My father used to watch the football here, in Tynecastle. And this road, I have known it all my life. My grandmother and aunts lived in the area, and Georgie was always a favourite place to come and visit the shops. I passed here a few weeks ago, on a very cold night. I took many photographs and decided to paint a night scene. This work is full of mystery and atmosphere. The canvas is deep enough to hang without the need for further framing if wished. The canvas is subtly textured with overlayed paper in parts. An ideal souvenir of Edinburgh.
