A pen and watercolour wash plein-air painting sketch from Grassmarket of Edinburgh Castle. The wonderful rock colour and scale of the massive castle captured so well. I loved the faint yellow and orange in the castle stone and the amazing detail of the castle with its many small windows and doors. I tried to capture the age and history with the choice of colour and loose sketch style. I paint regularly while on holiday and run a Facebook Sketchers group called London Sketchers. Painted in pen and watercolour paint on smooth watercolour paper 300gsm.
