All of my life, I’ve been an avid gardener, a love that I inherited from my dad, who grew up on a farm. As a child, I never tired of his stories of the farm, his horse (Kate), the antics of the animals, and his love of nature. With each plant that I tend, I marvel at God’s creative hand. Only God can breathe life into His creations, which live, grow & change. The garden, for me, is a place of prayer, reflection and renewal, which is why I have titled this large series “Echoes of Eden.” This series begins as an abstract collage, painted on vellum, upon which relevant Scripture passages are printed, which are linked to the image. Echoes #5 features verses from the Gospel of Luke (12: 27-28): "Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon, in all his glory, was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith!" Psalm 103, verses 15-16 are also included. The collage was then glued to a 12” x 12” canvas, upon which I painted in acrylics and then oils. The painting has been sealed with a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
