Original artwork description:

Sulfur lakes are usually formed either on or near volcanoes. As such, some are openings within the Earth's crust that have been flooded. The vivid colours that arise as a result of the chemical reactions that take place in such lakes serve as the inspiration for this piece.

The canvas serves as a dynamic tapestry: the first layer is a blend of oil paints that evoke the vivid colours found in Sulfur Lake. The colour transitions from a soft lime green at the bottom, ascending through warm pink tones in the middle, and culminating in cool blues at the top; this gradient effect mirrors the chromatic diversity of the lakes it is inspired by.

Over this foundation, I created circular forms using an oil bar, which were then softened and interconnected by finger blending, resulting in a misty overlay that unifies the composition. The repeated circular motifs slowly become less solid, as if dissolving off the bottom of the canvas.

This piece is signed and dated on the back and comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. It will be carefully wrapped in tissue and foam board and shipped in a cardboard box within five working days.
