I really enjoy giving a twist to the traditional still life genre and I find a good way to achieve this is by taking everyday modern objects and painting them from an unusual perspective so that they become unfamiliar to the viewer. With 'Eccentric' I really wanted to emphasise the circular patterns in the composition; in many ways abstracting the key components in the objects.
Eccentric does mean not placed centrally and to be a little bit quirky- a fitting name for the painting.
