It was my floor lamp switch that inspired me to create this feminine figure. Plasticity of the figure required using a variety of materials that had to be pieced together seamlessly. As an architect, I know how to join materials to make the structure durable. I made its “legs”, “neck” and “head” from aluminum tubes. I hid a welded frame made of 7 mm thick steel bars inside the tubes. The frame welding spot is inside its “body”. I placed the frame on the sculpture base. I made its torso from alder. Sculptors value alder wood for its homogeneous structure. I covered all sculpture elements with a layer of primer and painted with black alkyd semi-matte paint. I could have used silicone, plastic or some other material to make its body. But I chose wood. I wanted my sculpture to have not only an attractive look, but also pleasant tactile properties. Touch it. And you’ll feel its warmth.
