Original artwork description:

I never tire of walking, observing, sketching and painting the ever changing light and mood across Morecambe Bay - on the doorstep of my studio and home. Having been able to travel and visit many countries in the world this is my favourite place to be!

I have wanted to develop a series of SUNSETS for a while and a series of walks over the rocks in early evening with the light shimmering over the low tides gave me an opportunity to start. This painting is one of a small sub-group of four small paintings of dramatic sunsets over the estuary and pier at Arnside on the Lancashire/ Cumbria border - and sit within a growing series of sunsets across the bay which also borrow from previous walks and working trips in Scotland throughout 2018.

Signed by me on the front and labelled on the reverse - these paintings are complete with a beautiful, bold and chunky, handmade and hand-painted deep, scooped dark frame that really shows off the colours (the charcoal blue of the frame does look slightly more blue in these shots but indoor to the naked eye it tends to show up more as a dark blue-grey).

Materials used:

Oil on canvas
