I have a lasting facination for XVII century Dutch interior paintings, where ll the characters seem to be lost in their daily business, immersed in the darkness. They often give feeling like there is much more going on, some sort of tension that is in no way explained by or reduced to the actual explicit content of the painting. Back in 2014 I have created a series of drawings reworking some of those masterful paintings, applying surrealist automatic spontaneus creative aproach and letting the subcounscious content come out of the darkness. This one is a reinterpretation of an interior painting by VanOstaade.
