Bournemouth Gardens are beautiful tree filled, grade II listed Victorian gardens which follow the River Bourne for 3kms into Bournemouth town centre. The gardens contain a beautiful range of trees which inspired me to create this print.
This is a three block linocut print printed onto somerset cartridge (130gsm) with oil based inks. I've used transparent inks to create this print, which enabled me to make use of the overlap between blocks to create additional colours. This print is a variation on my original linocut 'Bournemouth Gardens'. I've used the same blocks to create this very limited edition version in more subtle, evening tones. Because this edition is variable there are subtle differences of colour in each print. This means that each print in the edition is unique.
The tradition of linocut is a relief printing method in which pieces of lino are cut away using special carving tools to create a design. The lino block is then inked up using a roller, and printed onto paper either by hand or using a traditional printing press. It's an entirely manual process, so some slight differences in the prints are to be expected. Each of these prints is the result of three separate blocks being carefully carved and printed, each new colour after the previous layer has had several days to dry.
Approx image size: 15" x 11" (37.5 x 27cm)
This print is a perfect fit for a 40 x 50cm frame when mounted.
