Original artwork description:

acrylic colour on textured Thai handmade mulberry paper, deckled edges, 21 x 31 in., 55 x 77 cm.
Durian in Malaysia is more than a fruit… it’s culture! Kukup is also no ordinary seaside village on stilts at the southernmost point of Peninsular Malaysia… I was so taken by this family scene in this unusual setting. The vendor weighing up the fruit, the motorbike parked in front on the wooden platform deck, the postures of the people, perfectly typical!
The paper I use is a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It is a thick parchment paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect.
This paper is a terxtured paper so the textural effect is even more. The close up picture is of higher resolution to be able to get a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
