Original artwork description:

" Mr. Watson, Come Here " is obviously 2 sculptures. They can be sold separately. The price for both sculptures is $5,400. The price for one sculpture is $3,000. Both sculptures are intended to be exhibited inside only.

This was an experimental sculpture, not unlike the experiments that precluded the invention of the telephone. Using two forms... One longer than the other. Mr. Watson, Come Here (on the Left) Both elements are fused together. The interior is cut out of the long thin element. The shorter element remains solid. Mr. Watson, Come Here (on the Right) Both elements are fused together. In the shorter element the interior is cut out. The interior of the long thin element remains solid.

All of my sculptures are made out of wood (Cedar). They are intended to be placed in an interior environment only. My sculptures are photographed both inside & outside. The interior shots (White background) are intended to give the viewer a sense of what my work would look like in an interior setting. The exterior shots were important to give the viewer a more accurate sense of color and texture, and perfectly balanced natural light without distracting shadows.

I have always had an affinity for creating with wood. Over the years I've restored 10 properties. Several were historic. One is listed on the National Registry of Historic Structures. I've also built wooden boats. My career was dedicated to teaching studio art at three different colleges over a period of 44 years. I've exhibited in NYC, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Florence Italy, Liverpool England, and numerous museums and galleries throughout the US. Creating challenging provocative work has been a life long goal. I consider myself a process artist. My that I mean... I enjoy all aspects making the work. After that I basically leave it in the hands of the gods.

Each of these sculptures was finished with a steel impregnated paint. Once the paint was chemically activated the sculpture, over a period of hours, looks exactly like rusted steel. A totally convincing transition.

Mr. Watson, Come Here #1 (on the left) comes with a removable base. Mr. Watson, Come Here #2 (on the right) also comes with a removable base. The bottom 18” of each sculpture easily slides into the slotted base. The bases are shipped seperately.

Materials used:

cedar & faux steel paint
