One of the iconic Northumbrian castles, Dunstanburgh is surely the most remote and desolate, with the haunting ruins dominating the landscape. It is a difficult place to paint as it is so iconic so I chose to make the painting more about the weather than the castle,

Here the sea fret is starting lift, with the turning of the tide, and the dark ruins are slowly being exposed to view.
