I love to visit and paint some of the more unusual areas of the UK and find beauty in the strangest places. This vast expanse of shingle on the edge of Romney Marsh in Kent, South-East England has an almost surreal quality and is sometimes referred to as Britain's only desert, where you can find many unusual plants unique to the area. The flat and bleak landscape is punctuated by a few buildings including this lighthouse and a few fishermen's cottages.
I have used watercolour, ink, gesso and hand painted fragments of collaged paper in this painting which is sold framed and ready to hang.
