I do not know how a thing that I have performed so many times can not become a routine. But every time for me there is so much poetry and romance in these uncomplicated northern landscapes.
This is my favorite place. Most often I walk here in silence with my little daughter. Every time after such walks, I am bursting with a new sketch. In principle, I do not mix a walk with a child and work. Both require maximum attention.
Although, of course, the temptation is great.
In short, you bring the child home (my wife is feeding the baby, putting her to sleep for the day), I drink tea to readjust, take a box of paints on my shoulder – and run to the bay. Fortunately, we live very close by.
On this tiny-sized etude, it's a calm ordinary day on the Gulf of Finland. The wind is small. The sand on the dunes and the sky are so smooth and equal in tone, the sea does not turn black, but seems to silver in complete serenity.
