Original artwork description:

Duncliffe Wood , Dorset
Ancient bluebell woodland,
A quiet and relaxing walk,
Found a scene to paint,
Pathway leading upwards,
Dappled light and fresh green tree shades.

Words and experience of recently exploring here and painting here Plein air with my ladies sketching group. What a beautiful day to observe the colours of the woodland.
Original impressionist watercolour on cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano cotton free 300gsm 140lb.
I used high pigmented watercolours that are Japanese and pearlised paint to highlight the bluebells.
I worked this time on dry paper which is unusual for me as I always wet it first all over. I create with my small filbert brush made the pathway first and then the spindle like trees, making expressive brushstrokes.
I pressed the paint on for the tree colours and then with my fan brush I pressed the bluebells in areas. I scratched out the paint with my nail.

Materials used:

Textured watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, fan brush, filbert brush, Japanese watercolours
