In my never ending quest to find painting subjects, and my desire to escape the pandemic affected world, I headed to Queensland's outback in November 2020.
I underestimated just how hot it would be in November with the temperatures reaching the mid forties most days.
It was hot, dry and arid. The red earth soaked up the days heat, and radiated back at you with ferocious intensity.
Everywhere I went I found dried out gorges, baked solid creek beds, and rocky cliff faces.
The occasional waterhole was hard to find and usually required long descents into a gorge like this one.
