This driftwood and conch shell sculpture is an unusual painting subject for me. We visited Dry Tortugas National Park (off the coast of Key West, FL) in December and came across this interesting man-made “art” while hiking along the beach near Fort Jefferson. Perhaps a previous visitor thought the shells would look nice on the driftwood. I found the layout of this driftwood with conch shells to be strikingly beautiful and had to snap some reference photos for a painting! The driftwood orientation with placement of shells had the perfect balance and composition for a painting, especially with the turquoise waters in the background.
This original painting was completed using professional grade oil paint on canvas. The painting is framed in a black wooden distressed frame and is ready to hang when you receive it.
