Original artwork description:

Mosaic art piece for indoors. This piece started off as birds, but as I cut and lay the gold leaf mosaic onto the board, it started to look remarkably like wheat plants. So I continued with this idea using matt ceramic wheat colours that complimented the gold mosaic. I followed the grain in the plywood to track the river in gold mirror, and there I was in my dreams in a beautiful wheat field in the summer, where the top of the wheat plants turned into birds and flew away, and the other golden birds filled the sun. I finished making this piece in the late autumn, and the days were getting darker and darker. So it was appropriate to make the background black.
The mosaic is framed in steel which will rust if put in a damp environment, and already in my own home it is starting to rust. I think this could look interesting to watch it change colour, but if you prefer to have it painted or reframed then please get in touch.
