The arrangements of French playing cards that dominate the foreground of the surrealist-style painting invade the masked face and partly conceal the other face which, consequently, finds itself showing a single eye. The cards will be shuffled between a face hidden by a mask and a face forced to turn to the external observer conditioned by a range of playing cards. The perspective of Palazzo Vecchio stands out with its grandeur, perhaps sealing the rhythm of a dormant time among the illogical enigmas of unknown rules.
