This painting explores and celebrates vibrant rich colours and textures. Innovative use of mixed media and much layering of pigments and washes are used to create dramatic colours and shapes.
The creative process is lengthy and is a calming and engaging procedure. I begin by adding texture to the base. The painting starts with an oil base layer followed by spray paint and various immiscible liquid paints. These cause wonderful patterns and textures as they interact together. These textures are built up gradually until the painting is balanced and aesthetically pleasing.
Painted on a cradled beechwood panel, the sides of which have been sprayed red. The painting has been embellished with a high gloss resin over the centre of the painting. This gives an extra dimension and a very contemporary twist.
Signed on the reverse. Strung ready to hang.
