My study of a modern man is a portrait of my husband. It was interesting to comprehend how different our contemporary is from a person who lived half a millennium ago and was depicted in Goldbein's canvases. Are we really different?
It seems to me that now the external appearance of a person should be as simple as possible. If earlier manliness was the fate of a man, modern masculinity is a person's choice to be himself and not be guided by how others want to see and perceive him. In particular, this includes avoiding stereotypes, non-violent behaviour, flexibility and freedom in choosing behaviour strategies related to "good" masculinity and those associated with femininity. A modern man must take place as a person and a professional, have communication skills, empathy, and even take care of children.
Unfortunately, people in my country think too little about all of this. As a result, we have a number of gender-specific problems like male alcoholism and early male mortality.
