A masterpiece of design visible from afar despite its lesser stature, it’s a refreshing break from the blocky concrete jungle that surrounds it. With inspiration taken from a dove taking flight, the World Trade Centre station sits beside the emotional 9/11 Memorial which naturally creates a quiet and tense atmosphere.
With the intent on capturing the heavy footfall sheltered by the rib cage-like structure from within, I found myself looking up through the “wings” overhanging the surrounding pavement.
