Double Double
Original painting by Alan Harris, contemporary British artist
Acrylic on canvas board 16x20"
Pie and mash is a traditional working-class food, originating in the Docks of London. Can be accompanied with stewed eels, the dish has been popularised as "a Cockney classic". It typically consists of a minced beef pie, mashed potato, and a parsley sauce known as liquor. Pie, mash, and eel shops have been in London since the 19th century, and are still common in East and South London, and in many parts of Kent and Essex.
My painting Titled "Double Double" shows my choice from that limited ,but more than satisfying menu. two pies burnt a little plus double mash ...Food of the Gods as we say.
Alan Harris works with a variety of mediums and subjects, oils, watercolours, pastel, mixed media, and sculptures.
