About 9 years ago I painted a photo of a Dorado or Mahi Mahi that my friend had caught while fishing in Puerto Rico and it was stole from a gallery that it was hanging in. I started a piece to repaint that painting but never got very far. Just recently I stumbled upon the canvas again with the oil wash sketch of that great Dorado, I decided it was time to finally finish that piece. This one varies slightly from the original that was stole but I still focused on the bright colors of the fish. Dorado is one fish that loses it color fairly rapidly when removed from the water.
Dorado Revisited is painted on a canvas that I stretched myself with medium duty double kilned pine stretcher bars and 100% duck cloth canvas. It was triple primed with premium gesso. It is 14 x 24 inches and is wired to hang as soon as you pick the perfect frame for it.
