In the field, a group of hunters are chasing a person. They seem to have lost track of him (or her), who is trying to chase a horse going in the opposite direction. A mysterious person in a red coat seems to be observing things as he (or her) is on the journey towards the horizon. All the elements in the iconic picture that the viewer can use to tell themselves a story, completely different from the artist's story.
