Doll is an intuitive painting about the erotic and its destructive aspect. We see an attractive female or a femme fatale lying on a bed, who lures her worshipers/victims in order to finally devour them.
The limbs are positioned in different directions of space perplexing the viewer and representing a hint of the sphinx riddle - not the known one ("What is the creature that walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon and three in the evening?") but that of how the people could be attracted by that which kills them.
