I made the Dog God shortly after my own dog died, and I like to think of him as watching over all departed dogs – wherever they go. I had been thinking about a combination of the Egyptian Anubis and the Pharaoh Hound, who look both so knowing and other-worldly.
This sculpture is made in bronze, with the traditional dark brown patination colour. It is free-standing, rather than having been mounted on a base, so that you can hold it in the palm of your hand, feel its covetable forms and re-assuring weight, and see its beautiful modelling from all angles.
A moving and meaningful sculpture. Please message me with any questions.
