This is an original linocut of a wonderful large flightless bird called a Dodo, originally found in the island of Mauritius, but is now sadly extinct. However this is a picture of one standing happily under the bright sun and contemplating some plants to eat.
This limited edition of linocuts is produced via the Reduction Linocut method of printing.
This method is creates a multicoloured print from a single block of lino. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the image slowly emerges while the actual piece of lino is destroyed. A reduction print can therefore never be reprinted. This means that the whole batch of prints must be printed at the start and will determine the final number in any edition.
