A hand carved, hand printed linocut of Crane Number 10 from Chatham Historic Dockyard in Medway, Kent. Built by Stothert and Pitt. This is part of an ongoing series of prints documenting and celebrating some of the structures associated with the industrial heritage of the UK.
Printed on 100% cotton rag with deckled edges, using four colours of linseed ink.
Each of these prints is hand made and there'll be some minor variation across the edition. This was cut from a single block of lino, printing the lightest colour first then cutting into the same block to print the next colour, and so on until the final darkest colour. This means that a cut can never be repeated and the small number of prints in each edition makes these works collectable.
