- In this artwork, Vallenssia wanted to present the versatility of the acrylic paint. Distance is an abstract and semi-abstract landscape painting that captures sea bay with distant islands and parts of the land. The sky is vivid and the sunlight is very bright. One is overlooking the sea bay from the high hill. Vallenssia used thick and heavy layers of paint and vivid colours. Using different varieties of artistic spatulas she created visible thick strokes of layers of paint and added a grainy texture that made the painting more present. The painting distance draws your attention to the far distance. Looking from front focus, through the bushes, the eye is drawn to the far distance where the sun has lit the sea surface.
