This one of my 'Dissilience' series has turned out a little gem, if I may say so myself! I tell the general story of this series below, but number 9 is special. Why? It's the particular colours and the layering and the effect of the slightly grainy surface of the printed areas, none of which was planned at the outset.
This limited variation edition has a very hand-made feel. It wasn't registered with pins, but placed by hand, so there's that ever-so-slight unintended off-set that occurs as a result. There's nothing mechanical about the process of printing it, which contributes to the charm.
My designs generally tend to be illustrative and/or figurative, which is quite hard work, so every now and then I like to burst out of my pod and do something different. Here I had some fun with abstract designs, using some modular linocut blocks that can be printed in different combinations, using layers and even masking part of the block. A couple of the 'Dissilience' series have now sold out, so here is another one for you!
It is a hand-printed original using oil-based artists' quality printing inks on robust acid-free archival printing paper.
This work is sold unframed, but in a commercially-manufactured mount set with mitre-cut mount, backing board and cellophane bag. So it makes a perfect gift.
Since 'Dissilience 1' and 'Dissilience 5' sold out, I have done several further limited edition variations with the same linocut blocks. These are separate listings here on Artfinder, but if you would like to buy a set of different ones together, please message me and we can make a plan - perhaps a listing customised for you, so you don't have to pay the shipping fee more than once. After number 9 (and a couple more that are drying on the rack) I won't be doing any more Dissilience variations, though, so grab a print or a set while you can!
