Original artwork description:

A mixed media, abstract face with purple. A piece from my Disfashionate Series. The art is a comment on the way the fashion industry manipulates photographs of women to completely unrealistic and unattainable levels of beauty - thus establishing a kind of de facto, yet completely artificial standard that is impossible for any actual person to achieve.

“Disfashionate (Purple)” is made with a 10 x 10 inch plywood box that is 2.5 inches deep. The sides are painted and finished with additional mixed media details, creating a sculptural element. Made with a variety of materials, including acrylic, collage, and photo transfer, where I take an ink-jet print, place it face down on my surface and, using a medium, transfer it onto the artwork by drawing onto the back of the print.

This piece can hang on a wall like a painting, or be treated like a sculpture and display freestanding on a flat surface such as a shelf or table. For more similar box pieces, see “Pink Face Antlers” and my other “Disfashionate Box” pieces.

This artwork is signed on the front and comes with a certificate of authenticity. The artwork will be carefully wrapped in padding and packed flat for shipping. All shipping is done via FedEx. Please contact me if you have any questions or special requests.
