Pop Art meets Street Art. This youth gives a magnificent sneer as he looks down his nose and along his curled cigarette telling us that he cares not a jot for any disapproval aimed at his smoking. Graffiti style marks cover this young man and add a layer of moodiness to him.

As an actress, I’ve always been fascinated by faces and what they can express without words. I strive to produce images of the expressions which capture my imagination. DISDAIN has been a well documented expression through photography (James Dean, Elvis Presley – the list goes on). I suppose we will lose this particular ‘look’ now that only dinosaurs smoke.

If teamed with ‘DISDAIN – SHE’ and hung together, we can imagine that ‘DISDAIN – SHE’ is showing her condemnation of the cigarette smoking that HE is indulging in … and the DISDAIN he shows for her and her opinion of him. The conversation between the 2 might go something like …
SHE That’s disgusting!
HE I don’t give a toss.
