It was very cold outside, rain lashing at the thin glass, my shoes and trousers soaked. Inside the small falafel shop, the air was a warm fug, hot oil, the smell of pickles and spice, of frying. I sat at the counter, savouring the temporary comfort and shelter. A row of napkin holders caught my eye. They seemed so solid, nostalgic, tatty and oddly evocative, a proud parade. I liked the Cube-like shapes, the colour and the texture. An unusual and evocative painting, full of realistic detail.
Texture has been added to create extra depth. The canvas is 0.5 inches deep and can therefore hang without a frame if wished.
