An artwork from my "Back in NYC" series - an oil painting capturing the iconic silhouette of a crumpled Diet Coke can. This artwork continues the exploration of pop art themes, showcasing the transformation of everyday objects into unique pieces of art, while also prompting reflection on environmental consciousness.
During my time in New York City, I was struck by the prevalence of beverage cans, including the familiar sight of crumpled Diet Coke cans. As I observed these discarded cans scattered throughout the city, I was inspired to elevate their mundane presence through art.
In this painting, the crumpled Diet Coke can takes center stage, its distinctive shape and branding serving as a symbol of modern consumer culture. Yet, beneath its surface lies a deeper message about the environmental impact of single-use packaging and our collective responsibility to address it.
Through the lens of pop art, I seek to shed light on this dichotomy - transforming a mundane object into a thought-provoking piece of art that prompts us to consider our consumer choices and their environmental repercussions.
