Original artwork description:
The work shows an interpretation of Ferdinand Hodler's portrait "Valentine Godé-Darel" from 1912, for which Sussi Hodel was modelled by a friend of the artist, who is a full-time gardener. Here too she found the resemblance almost frightening. Fiona is from England, but she looks like Valentine Godé-Darell. Most of the work has been smoothed and only the eyes, nose and mouth needed the help of the brush. Sussi Hodel deliberately painted the work a little greener than the original, as she felt it was important to relate it to Fiona's profession and therefore to the title of the work.
