Original artwork description:
Hyper-realistic graphite pencil portrait of epic songwriter, singer, actress, stage performer Diana Ross. I endeavored to work smaller than I normally do. I also determined to generate a jazzy, subdued image of this glamorous star, while retaining the iconic long/heavy eyelashes which, nowadays, we may refer to as "branding."
Ample layers of graphite were applied to achieve this piece, causing me to look much like a coal-miner throughout the process (minus the lighted headgear). Nevertheless, the final product "speaks," especially with her portal-like eyes.
Materials used:
Graphite pencils (0.5mm mechanical pencil, 5H, 4H, 2H, HB, 4B, 6B, 8B), cotton balls, Q-tips, blending stumps, kneaded eraser
