Towards the end of the 1480s, Leonardo da Vinci drew in one of his notebooks what we now know as the Vitruvian Man. The pen and ink drawing on paper show a man fitting inside a circle and square.
By placing the man within a circle and square, Leonardo da Vinci uses the picture to show the different ratios of the human body. Using the picture, he brings together art and mathematics by teaching us the importance of the proportions of the human body.
Today the Accademia Gallery in Venice is home to the da Vinci’s drawing. As it is over 600 years old and on paper, it is rarely on display to the public. Though the actual drawing is a minor part of this work, I thought the history was worth mentioning.
Di Vinci Man is a one-of-a-kind, original work of art. It is produced using acrylic paint and India ink.I only sell original work so there will only be one original. The painting is signed on the front and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
This painting will be shipped in a tube. The artwork is very easy to mount on any type of board: plywood, masonite, foamboard, etc. I include simple mounting instructions with each piece that I sell and also I include mounting tape, a hanging strip and a drywall hanging device. Everything that you need to mount your painting except the board.
If you prefer, I will mount the artwork on ½ inch foamboard with a two inch border all around. It will be “ready to hang”, with a hanging strip attached to the back and a wall hanging device that is very simple to use. It will be shipped in a cardboard box. You may take it out of the box and have it hanging on your wall within five minutes. The extra charge is $50.00 for mounting and packaging plus the additional shipping costs, if any. Message me through this site and I will calculate the total costs for mounting and shipping.
