This is a painting in my new series of smaller pieces depicting close detail from some of Hieronymus Bosch’s most notable works but applying my own colours and art techniques.
This detail is from The Last Judgement, right inner wing: Hell. A host of devils are tormenting a handful of souls. To the right a bulbous-nosed and bespectacled devil is reading out the charges against a man who has been blindfolded. The boundary with Hell is established by a wall pierced by an arched gateway decorated with toads. Standing like a guard in front of the entrance is a black figure with a green turban. Fire blazes in his stomach and on his head.
Hieronymus Bosch is known for his paintings of amazing and wonderful pictures. He was one of the first European painters to paint about everyday life. He let the horrors he saw each day spill out onto his painting, which was creative and different for his period.
Perfect for adding a statement piece to living spaces that may create a talking point with visitors.
Executed in excellent quality acrylic paints, painted on all sides, and finished with a glaze of gloss varnish to protect against sunlight and dust. It just needs a nail or wall fitting to sit flush against the wall.
