According to one of the existing hypotheses, the place of the world's largest desert was once the sea. In the part of Africa where there is now only sand, there was once a reservoir 50 meters deep. It covered three thousand square kilometers of land. Now there is the world's largest desert - the Sahara. About 50-100 million years ago it was the territory of the ancient Trans-Saharan Sea. And although scientists are still debating whether the data on this issue are quite comprehensive, but recent studies have shown that there are more than three hundred thousand cubic kilometers of water under the Sahara - the amount that the Nile contributes to the Mediterranean in as much as 12 years! And how many more unexplored secrets does our planet hide ?!
