Two summers ago we rented a house in Matlock, Derbyshire for a week. The weather was gloriously hot and I spent a lot of time sitting outdoors watching the light change on the majestic hills over the valley. We drank wine and I sketched the view with this painting in mind.
I’ve tried to capture the dramatic sweep of the landscape with broad expressive brushstrokes loaded with luscious oil paint.
