Original artwork description:

Inspired by their early ayahuasca and mushroom experiences at Cholera in the Amazon, I painted a pair of portraits of Dennis McKenna and Terence McKenna, who have each played instrumental roles in popularizing entheogenic plant medicines within Western society. In contrast to his brother, Dennis pursued a fairly conservative, scholastic approach to studying ethnobotany, so I depicted him wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with a molecular representation of DMT (Di-methyl triptamine). Reflecting his interest in traditional uses of ayahuasca, I portrayed Dennis surrounded with several Amazonian animal allies, as well as a Kofan maestro brewing a batch of ayahuasca.
