Original artwork description:

I have spent a lot of time on Wimbledon Common and have always loved (and indeed built) the dens made by children. I painted this den in early Spring just as the trees were sprouting new leaves. I wanted to capture the warmth of sunshine on the leafy floor. The predominant colours are the warm umber or the wood/ground and the cool green of the new leaves. This is framed in a bespoke Whistler style frame with a gold beading and a white slip.

Materials used:

Oil on linen canvas
