This artwork belongs to a series which evokes Demeter's myth, the goddess of the harvest in Greek mythology. Through this goddess I refer to a figure who is far more ancient, the earth goddess Gaia. For this purposeI chose oat branches to symbolise the connection with her. The bronze colour evoked by the acrylic paint recalls the bond with the earth, From the darkness of the underworld from which her daughter Persephone emerges, Demeter joyfully gives the world a bountiful harvest.
