Title - Delville Wood, France. 2020
Additional information - This image is from the latest body of work titled “On This Day’. John Angerson has been working alongside historian Professor Ian McBride to compile a list of historic European events since 1900 where something extraordinary and transformative has occurred. These contemporary photographs have been made in the precise location and on the same day that the actual events took place. The project acts as a memorial that urges us to respect the power of now. These events were both fleeting and eternal - over in an instant but whose consequences would change Europe forever. During World War I's Battle of the Somme in 1916, Delville Wood became the site of a prolonged and intense conflict. The forest's landscape today serves as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices of the soldiers who fought there. Delville Wood reminds us of the harsh realities of war and the strength of the human spirit in challenging times.

Chromogenic print, lustre finish. Signed verso. Print size: 16x12 inches (40.64cm x 30.48cm). With a signed Certificate of Authentication.
