Original artwork description:

The painting shows Delicate Arch against a backdrop of La Sal Mountains in Utah. Painted during the heat of the day, the red sandstone glows fiercely. Just below, a hiker is reading a map.
I wanted to capture the monumental scale of this beautiful arch, the layers and blocks of red sandstone built up over millennia then carved out by wind. Also how it stood above and contrasted with other high ridges below and far off in the heat haze.
