Original artwork description:

This was painted after spotting deer in the dark wood but with the low sun getting odd beams through the trees and splashing stripes across the backs of the deer.
I just wanted to capture that moment. It always seems special when you can spot larger animals in their environment, especially those so timid as deer.
We have seen 3 species of deer here in the Chiltern hills as well as foxes, badgers, rabbits.
