This painting is inspired by the curious and heavily armoured stag beetle. I have emphasised their segmented bodies by placing them in a geometric network of shapes. It is painted with oil paint and a palette knife so the surface is very raised and tactile looking. It is a small painting and the vivid colours would brighten up a wall in any room.
