Original artwork description:

A drawing in ink using a dip pen. The black ink drawing was completed at one of the life-drawing sessions I attend and was drawn directly in ink with no pencil under-drawing, on a sheet of cartridge paper prepared by running some diluted black ink across it.

My idea was simply to move away from tonal work and produce something more graphical. However, the model brought along a feather headdress which, I thought, created a rather decadent look, so I sat on the floor, looking up at the model (on a platform) which skewed the perspective. Back in my studio, I added the bold purple, the white and the colours of the feathers.

The detail image shows the part of the sheet that would fit on my scanner, and the main image image is a photo showing the entire sheet of paper which measures 42 x 29.5 cm.
