Original artwork description:

This work was done after a trip through Death Valley. I was trying to show the heat rising from the vastness of the mountainous desert.

It is a watercolor woven mosaic collage. It was made from 2 similar pictures, one cut in vertical strips and the other in horizontal strips; both were woven together combining into one image.

That picture was then cut at the joints; the top layer was lifted off and attached to a backing forming Death Valley I. The same process was used for the remaining bottom layer forming Death Valley II.

Materials used:

arches watercolor paper, winsor newton paints
